Monday 6th June - The Electric Buggy Adventure

It was another good and filling breakfast to start the day and then I headed off, leaving the three ladies at breakfast, to pick up the only 6-seater electric golf cart available for hire on the island. I walked from our B&B in Porthcressa Road to Moor Well Lane and the The Electric Cart Company.
Hugh Town, St Mary's
The Electric Cart Company have not been going that long, but they are ideal for those needing a bit of help getting around the island. At £40 per day, 9AM to 6PM, it is not exactly cheap, but considering how useful it was and how much fun we would probably do it again. So with map in hand we set off to pick up Alan & Pat.

They'd already set off towards us from the Belmont Hotel - so once all six of us were abroad we set off over up and over the hill past the airport and towards Old Town, where we spied the most poorly stocked off-license we have ever been in. There was a choice of two whiskeys, a full bottle of Teachers or a half bottle of Teachers - we later bought the full bottle.
Old Town, St Mary's
Just past Old Town we found a collect of three artists. We went in to all three and made purchases in all three the most significant purchases being a cider jug from the pottery and a picture from Chris Smith.

Then it was back in to the electric chariot and off to the ancient burial tomb.

After our week break and walk on the beach, we set off back through the small and windy roads back towards Hugh Town. On the way we came across Juliet's Garden Restaurant and we impressed with the setting and look of the restaurant that we booked for the night.

It didn't take long to get back to Hugh Town, so after a quick 'burn around the town' we set off up the hill towards the Star Castle Hotel to see it in the day-light and have another wee drink.

We then headed down to the seafront and a look in some of the shops and time for an icecream.

We then headed back out to pick up our purchases from the artists shops on the other side of Old Town. As the road was quite quiet, Nicky managed to have a go of driving.....

Even if she did manage to give everyone a fright......

Then as it was still really quite and we still had loads of battery life left and an hour before we had to hand it back, Nessa got a shot driving......

See Nessa driving the Electric Chariot below........

We then returned the vehicle and got showered and changed and went out for our last evening meal of the holiday to the excellent Juliet's Garden Restaurant. Great food, service and views.
